Men’s Soccer Eliminated From Playoffs

By Owen Russell

Men’s soccer kicked off the playoffs this past week, when they traveled to Randall’s Island to take on the Hunter Hawks on Oct. 27.

The match was a defensive stalemate. As the first half chugged on, neither team was able to knock through a goal. The second half rolled around and the Bulldogs decided to take control. In the 59th minute freshman Angel Godinez scored the game’s only goal. Brooklyn was able to hold the Hawks scoreless, and win the quarter final playoff contest.

Having advanced to the next round, Brooklyn took on the top seeded Lehman Lightning on Oct. 30. The Bulldogs got on the board first, surprising the Lightning with a goal in the 18th minute. Senior Brian Navarette was credited with what would be Brooklyn’s only goal of the game. Things quickly got out of hand for the Bulldogs as they allowed five unanswered. The whistle sounded, and the game ended 5-1, in favor of Lehman.

With the loss, Brooklyn’s season has come to a close. After starting out slow, Brooklyn won three games in a row heading into the playoffs.
