Men’s Soccer

The Brooklyn College men’s soccer team faced off against University Of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV) on Friday, Sept. 9 at their home field.

Despite two goals in each quarter, the men’s team lost via a score of 4-2. Junior midfielder Bradlej Cupi tied the game with his initial goal thirty minutes into the first quarter of the game. UMSV would score twice in the first quarter then twice again in the second quarter, extending their lead to four points. In the second quarter, sophomore forward Seif Mokhtar scored a goal, but it wasn’t enough to beat UMSV.

Their next game took place on Sept. 12 in Purchase, NY against the Purchase College Panthers. Though the Bulldogs struck first with a goal from midfielder Bruno Servisi, the Panthers scored two goals in each half, coming out victorious in this play with a score of 4-1.

The Bulldogs’ last game of the week took place on Sept. 14 against the Pioneers on the home field of William Paterson University. The game was an astounding loss for the Bulldogs, coming to a head with a score of 8-0.

Stay tuned for their next game on Sept. 20 against Pratt Institute.

Women’s Soccer

On their home opener, the women’s soccer team rallied for a comeback this past Wednesday, Sept. 11, but it was not enough to beat Keystone college.

Though a hard fought game, they lost 3-4 despite out-shooting Keystone 26-5. Keystone would score first in the second quarter, but BC would later tie the game with a goal from freshman midfielder Audrey Jane Young. Young would score this goal with the assist of fellow teammate Sage Bernstein. This lead wouldn’t hold, however, as Keystone would score another goal and retake the lead minutes after.

BC would keep the pressure on the Keystone offense, but it wouldn’t matter as they would score another goal, making it 3-1. BC wasn’t going down without a fight, and tried to respond back and shift the tide of the game in their favor.

Freshman forward Gianna DiPronio would break through and score a goal 86 minutes into the game, aided again via a second assist by Sage Berstein. This would make it a 3-2 game in the end. The Bulldogs fought hard and made this a close game, hoping to rebound in their next game against Bard College on Sept. 17.

Women’s Volleyball

The Women’s volleyball team played against Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Florham and swept them in their first home win of the season on Sept. 10.

Winning via a score of 3-0, the Bulldogs were dominant from the jump and out scored their opponent each round. The Bulldogs scored 25 points in each of the three rounds, securing themselves easy points against FDU. Junior middle blocker Ayatallah Elkotby had 10 kills and three blocks in the game, senior Aleah Rafat had four kills and two aces, freshman Danielle Fuxman had four kills, and sophomore Magdalena Mackiewicz had three kills.

It was an empowering win for a team as they hoped to capitalize on this momentum in their next game. The Bulldogs displayed a fair array of skills on their home turf as they played against the Purchase College Panthers on Sept. 12, culminating in a victory for the Bulldogs with a final score of 3-1.

Their next game will be on Sept. 17 against Medgar Evers College.

Women’s Tennis

The BC Women’s Tennis faced off against FDU-Florham on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and lost via a score of 5-2.

Their next match against Mount Saint Mary College took place on Sept. 14 and resulted in a loss for the Bulldogs with a final score of 7-0.

The Bulldogs will have a chance at redemption on their home turf at their next game against York College on Sept. 17.
