The Brooklyn College women’s basketball team clinched their fifth straight CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) title, highlighting BC as one of the best athletic programs as well. Before clinching their fifth title, the Bulldogs played through a gauntlet of games.
On Feb. 22, the team took on Medgar Evers College for the CUNYAC conference and steamrolled them to a tune of 66-34, helping them advance to the next stage. The Bulldogs would start the game on a 12-0 run and end the first quarter leading 24-10.
The Bulldogs led in every quarter and this game was highlighted by junior guard Anna Kitch and her double-double this game. She ended her night with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and a double double. Junior guard Dior Dorsey had 11 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. Freshman guard Ameea Daniel had 10 points and 11 rebounds while also having the second double double of the game.
Graduate student guard Alina Estrella would end her night with 10 points in 23 minutes of play. The team would then go on to face Baruch college on Feb. 25.

On the road against Baruch, BC went straight to business and won this game 62-48. The last time BC lost was back on Feb. 8 against John Jay. The team had been on a four-game winning streak leading up to this game. In what ended up being a close game, the Bulldogs were electric on both sides of the court and ended the first quarter up 14-10.
Baruch would try and keep the game close, cutting the score to 43-35, the closest they got all game. The key player was Estrella with 16 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Estrella was near a triple-double this game. Daniel had 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one block, and one assist.
Dorsey had a good game as well with 10 points, one block, and five steals. With this win, the Bulldogs advanced to the CUNYAC championships for a fifth year in a row and would face off against Hunter College.
On Feb. 27, the Bulldogs found themselves in their fifth straight CUNYAC championship, culminating with a win that could extend their dynasty and add another trophy to the case.
The game would end up being close, and the Bulldogs would win this close game 59-54, cementing them as one of CUNY’s most dominant and successful sports teams ever. Hunter would battle back many times this game and go on a 9-0 run to regain the lead, but the Bulldogs would answer right back.
Dorsey was named the CUNYAC tournament MVP, and her teammates Estrella and Kitch would receive tournament honors as well. Estrella had 13 points and eight rebounds this game and Kitch ended her night with 11 points and eight rebounds. Dorsey had another great game with 15 points, eight rebounds and 4 steals.

This win was head coach Megan Campbell’s second straight conference title. The team ended their season 17-11 and on a six-game winning streak. On March 7, the team will head to Maine and play against Bowdoin in the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Women’s Basketball Championship.
