The Brooklyn College (BC) women’s softball team ended its regular season on the road with another doubleheader against Hunter College. While they would come up short in both games, the team began their CUNYAC tournament run soon after. The Bulldogs ended their regular season with a record of 14-21.

Game One

Game one started with Hunter in a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but BC quickly responded with a run of their own. Junior outfielder Sage Bernstein reached on an error helping score freshman outfielder Ashley Konner.

This would be the only run BC would score in this game, as they lost 6-1. The team ultimately ended the day with seven hits, but left eight runners on base. Hunter’s pitcher Grace Basil earned her eighth win of the season. Melanie Milan ended the day 2-4, Lianna Gonzalez went 2-4, one of which was a double, and Konner went 1-4.

BC hoped to bounce back in game two.

Game Two

Senior Danielle Guzzardi pitched both games of the doubleheader and threw a complete game in each one. Unfortunately, this game was similar to the previous one, and BC lost 6-1 again.

Sophomore catcher Vida Rodriguez got on base due to an error, which helped score Milan, who had hit a single earlier on. The team ended the day with 10 hits and left nine runners on in the game two loss.

Milan went 2-4, Konner went a perfect 3-3, and junior left fielder Molly Martin went 2-3. With the regular season wrapped up, BC ended with its best record since 2015 and managed to clinch the #3 seed in the CUNYAC tournament.

On May 8, BC will take on Hunter College to kick off the tournament.
