To our readers and listeners, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a special community and to be at the forefront of student voices on campus. Thank you for allowing me, alongside the rest of our incredible staff, to help tell stories that mattered and create spaces where students could feel heard, represented, and connected. It has truly been an honor serving as your Podcast Manager, Staff Writer, and member of the Vanguard Team.
Coming into this role, I knew absolutely nothing about podcasting. But I dove in headfirst, gave it everything I had, and learned alongside some of the most talented and passionate people I’ve met during my time here. What started as something unfamiliar became one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience.
To the people who made this journey unforgettable:
Rami – thank you for being unapologetically yourself. Thank you for always showing up for me and for all of us, no matter what. Your energy, humor, and authenticity made every stressful moment lighter.
Jaida – thank you for being such a bright light and bringing positivity everywhere you go. Your warmth and spirit never failed to make people feel welcomed and valued.
Serena – WBCR royalty and our future Managing Editor! Thank you for always opening your doors to us, our chaos, and our antics. You gave us a space to grow, collaborate, laugh, and support one another through both stressful deadlines and happy moments.
Mia – Thank you to one of my podcast hosts who has been so helpful in making many connections happen, and your impact on campus is seen!!!
Anastasia – to my future podcast manager, I am so proud of your passion and your creativity, and you will continue to do formidable things for the podcast under the guidance of our EIC and ME. Keep shining, you will make it far.
To everyone at Vanguard and Vanguardian Voices: thank you for the memories, the lessons, and the friendships. I’ll always carry this experience with me. Although this chapter is ending, I know the stories, voices, and impact of this team will continue long after us.
With gratitude,
Yassir Azzam
