DIY Charcuterie Board

By Key Jones-Ford

Treat yourself as the semester comes to a close with your very own charcuterie board!

Ingredients:

3 types of cheeses: this spread uses brie, cheddar, and gouda

2 types of meats: this spread uses salami and prosciutto

2 types of crackers: You can get any variety pack from your local supermarket

2 types of spreads: honey, jams, jellies, and marmalades work best

1 type of fruit: grapes are the most common fruit used, but berries or apples are also popular choices

You do not have to use the exact ingredients mentioned here, or use the same amounts. This recipe is a guideline you can follow.

For the board itself, any large food-safe platter will work; a pizza board is the best option, but other options can include a cutting board or just using a large dining plate.

If your cheeses are not pre-cut, cut them into bite-sized slices or cubes.

To arrange your board, you can use the “quadrant” rule; each corner will have one of your main components, and you can work your way in. If you want to be fancy, you can even make your honey jar and jam as part of the spread.

Another way to arrange your board is to create a scene; perhaps the meat can be a river and the cheeses can serve as a bridge going through, or the crackers can be mountains that your cheese and meats surround. Be as extravagant or as simple as you want!

This board can feed 2 people.
